Sloggn - Name, Logo, Tagline, etc.
The Name:
The name Sloggn is a modification on the word slog or slogging, pronounced in an old timer rural New England accent by dropping the “g” in the “ing.” Perhaps this may help….. “Yep, by Jesus, let me tell you, I had to slog through 15 inches of mud and snow to get to my sap buckets!” We wanted to play on the word and experience to create a range of products that make the laborious movement from point A to B easier, more enjoyable, and keeping with the spirit of adventure, so you can enjoy the journey and not dwell on the negative aspects of getting there. Adventures should be fun.

The Tagline:
Get there from here. This tagline owes its roots to old New England. There is a popular phrase in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine - “You can’t get there from here.” The phrase refers to the highway system in the north east, where most primary roads go north/south, which often makes getting from Vermont to Maine a much longer trip than necessary. We want to play off this expression and provide simple solutions that make the process of getting there from here easier and more enjoyable. Now you can “get there from here” with Sloggn products. It may sound cheesy, but we like it.
The Logo:
We could not think of a mascot that better personifies the movement of Sloggn, and helps you get to where you need to go, than the mule- an animal that this reliable, strong, and perseveres through all weather and terrain.
Gioconda the Mule:
We would like to introduce you to Gioconda, our mule with an attitude. We name our beloved mascot after a pet miniature donkey that my father had as a child (a story for another time), but look around our website, social media, and packaging for hints about Gioconda.
The Hexagon Pattern:
The hexagon pattern is a symbol that we repeat often and represents the top of a hex bolt, signifying the connections between materials and the symbolism of the connection that our product creates from point A to B. We also feel that the symbolism the hexagon represents embodies the spirit of our company:
The hexagon: Love, Sincerity, Truth, Lovers, Harmony, Equality, Perfection, Integration, Conjoining, Reliability, Dependability, Communication.
The hexagon is the strongest shape known. Many don’t know this, but if you want something to hold a lot of weight, pick a hexagon. Hexagonal patterns are prevalent in nature due to their efficiency. In a hexagonal grid, each line is as short as it can possibly be if a large area is to be filled with the fewest number of hexagons. This means that honeycombs require less wax to construct and gain lots of strength under compression. It's also one of the only shapes which tessellates perfectly.
