Create space for a dog in a car

Now that summer has sprung and you are planning your summer trips it time to think about packing your vehicle. As you know we recommend a Base Deck to utilize the hitch and create some extra space. Beyond kids, luggage and coolers, dogs can also take up a large amount of space. The amount of space a dog needs in a car depends on the size of the dog and the size of the car. As a general rule, dogs should have enough space to sit, stand, lie down and turn around comfortably. For small dogs, the back seat of a car may be sufficient. For larger dogs, the cargo area of an SUV or station wagon may be a better option. It's also important to ensure that your dog is safely restrained while in the car. This can be achieved through the use of a safety harness, a crate, or a barrier installed between the cargo area and the passenger compartment of the car.

As a reminder, don't leave a pet unattended in a vehicle. Vehicles can become an oven in no time.
